Historic legislation affecting health insurance in America was signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010.  A separate bill modifying this Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, called the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, was subsequently passed by both chambers of Congress on March 25 and was signed into law March 30.
